2 Levels of Heat Drying from Cracked Toilet Cistern
Michael Gordon | Reassured Restoration
Job of the month - November 2021
The Job of the Month for November 2021 goes to Michael Gordon for this water damage restoration job caused by a cracked and leaking toilet cistern. This is a two part video as the initial setup was done on the lower level while the upper level was still undergoing approval for structural drying.
The grey water leaking from the toilet saturated the yellow tongue floor on the upper level, as well as some tiled areas. This in turn created water damage in the ceiling of the lower level.
To quickly get the drying process started Michael has creatively used Curtain-Wall telescopic poles to duct hot air into the downlight cavities. This allows for some clever target drying of the cavity between the lower level ceiling and upper level floor. The nylon ducting is getting its heated air from a Drymatic Boost Bar using a 4 Port Adaptor. Before this we also have a dehumidifier that is drying the wet air in the environment and feeding the dry air to an air mover that pushes it through the Boost Bar.
In the second video we can see the heat drying taking place on the upper floor once the structural drying had been approved. We can see the crack in the toilet cistern that caused the leakage as well. A large part of the yellow tongue floor in the hallway of the upper level was affected by the leak. The setup here is also using an Air Mover to push air into a Boost Bar that heats the air up. The heated air is fed into multiple Drymatic Mats that have been connected together. The tiny holes under the mats create micro jets of heat to target dry the whole area. This raises the surface temperature by more than 10 degrees, which doubles the rate of evaporation. As the moisture is evaporated into the air, a dehumidifier dries the wet air as well.
