This month we have a unique solution to a water damage restoration job in Cairns. Our Job of the Month for October 2021 goes to Michael Starke from Chem Safe Services for this clever way of managing a business that needs to keep its visitors safe.
The restoration job was a flooded day care centre in Cairns. The concrete flooring was affected and this is a simple straight forward job for Drymatic Heat Drying Technology. In normal circumstances, the whole area would be covered in Drymatic mats and ducting going to Boost Bars and Drymatic II machines.
The issue however is that this is a day care centre with high thorough fare floors and little kids. To minimise the disruption of the facilities a temporary plywood flooring was built on top of the concrete. This allowed for heat to be trapped underneath to dry the floor. Ducting and injection drying was also cleverly put through the plywood flooring and a custom box was built for the Drymatic II so it could inject hot air to the floors and exhaust wet air out of the building.
The plywood flooring meant that there were no hazards to trip over and kept the equipment safe from all the children. This solution dried the area thoroughly without having to section off the area and with minimal disruption.
The Drymatic II was able to heat up the surface of the concrete to 46°C and bring the relative humidity down to 15%, that’s an increase of temperature by 20°C and a decrease of relative humidity by 50%.
